Explosion at LA law enforcement training facility kills three people

An explosion at a law enforcement training facility in Los Angeles has killed at least three people.

The US attorney general, Pam Bondi, told reporters that federal agents were at the scene of Friday’s explosion and were working to learn more. She said her information came from US attorney Bill Essayli’s office, whose jurisdiction includes Los Angeles.

California governor Gavin Newsom’s office said he had been briefed on the blast.

Citing multiple law enforcement sources, Fox News reported that the three killed were Los Angeles sheriff’s department deputies, and the source of the blast – which occurred at the Biscailuz training center – was not immediately known.

The Los Angeles county sheriff’s department had not immediately confirmed any deaths.

Aerial footage from KABC-TV shows the explosion happened in a parking lot filled with sheriff patrol cars and box trucks.

No other details were immediately available.
